Here is a loco, that im thinking about buying. https://secure.atlasrr.com/mod1/itemdesc.asp?CartId={5C03638D-1BFE-4703-9AC9-8CFB1E73D9EVEREST92}&ic=8960&eq=&Tp=.

I then went to, http://www.digitrax.com/decsel.php#HO, and scrolled down to HO.

I have seen this one. http://www.digitrax.com/prd_mobdec_dh163a0.php. Will this decoder work with this loco.

Not to sure on which decoder to buy for what loco. Just want to make sure im choosing the right decoder.

Sorry, i put this post in the wrong section.

Thanks,
CAS

See if you can get one that already has DCC, so you don't need to get a decoder for it. If you do need a decoder, it should be DCC ready, so you can drop in an NMRA 8 pin plug equipped decoder.

Hey LongIslandTom,

I just went to this site, http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Produ...ode=ATL%2D8960,
But there is no description of the loco. I can't tell if it's DCC equiped, or DDC ready.
How would be the best way to tell if it's DDC ready, or equiped?

I just got my Zephyr starter set in yesterday. I've been doing alot of reading on DCC. I'm just want to make sure, im buying the right equipment. I would be very happy, if i could buy all my C&NW loco's DCC equiped.:)

Thanks for the info.

LongIslandTom,

Yep, that helps.

Funny you mention CNW... I got an Athearn GP50 I'm painting up right now in CNW's Zito Yellow scheme.

I chose C&NW, because im from the midwest, and had seen alot of them growing up.

Really appreciate the help.
