Really nice work
Would that be a BROOD of Vipers?
Oh, you've just uncovered our darkest secret... And after some genetic engineering the Vipers are to be turned into Cobras! Mwahahahar! (evil scientist's laughter)
Actually, I have already done such. See:
This is my mothers fighter.
This is the diagram that I used as a guide to recolour it.
The more I see, the deeper in awe I get! Just great, fantastic job!
Me likey, Rev fan!!!
Hi, A-Man! I like your Talon! :thumb:
Thanks! If I ever get the instructions finished, I'll be putting it up for sale.
That's your MOM's fighter?
Cool son for building it for her, too.
I cant remember wich one it was and the trek mag a red it in is still packed sorry
When I was a kid, my mother and I would watch both BSG and BRTC25 together. She also gave me a tremendous amount of encouragement when I first started paper modeling. At times, she would help me with some of my builds. So as a memorial to her, I built this fighter. I just wish she were still alive to have seen it. I know that she would have cherished it GREATLY.
Mk. IV update
A little update on the Mk. IV: The general shape is set and ready for texturing. I'll have to cut out a hole for the cockpit and make the interior.
CU - with a textured Mk. I fin!
forgive my ignorince of the full subject , but is the mk iv cannon or your own design?
great work so far!
The Mk. IV is canon but there is a very sad story about her: She was supposed to become the star of a new BSG continuation series by Tom DeSanto & Brian Singer in 2001. The project was in full swing when suddenly Singer left to direct "X-Men". Production continued even though, sets and two Viper mock-ups were built, masks and costumes were made. What happened then is a bit foggy, but it is said that 9/11 had some impact on the decision to freeze the endeavour. In the end everything was shelved and all sets - including the Vipers - were tossed into a landfill.
Here you can see the original Mk. IVs:
Great job Revell-Fan , that mkIV is shaping up nicely. Can' t wait to see the textured mkI. Keep up the fantastic job. May the Lords of Kobol be with you, so say we all. Cheers.

The MK-IV looks really good. It looks like it will be a fun build.
Mk. I - dress uniform
Howdee! As promised, here are the first pics of the Mk. I in "dress uniform". The texture maps you see here are the basis for the "dirty work" later in Gimp. I use single maps for the fin, the wings, the cockpit and so on to overcome the max res for texture maps in SketchUp and Pepakura. Right now I have added three texture maps at max res with many more to come. Don't worry about some lines crossing greeblies, I'll deal with them when I'm doing the shadings and weathering effects.
At this moment I may tell you that ALL greeblies (including the wires) will become extra detail parts. So if anyone thought this would be a faster build than UHU02's X-Wing - no way..!
The nose gets some colour. I found out that the pre-shading of the fin and wings textures doesn't look that good and removed it.
I wish I knew...
Just looking absolutely GREAT!:thumb::thumb: I wish I knew how to do it, specially the weathering. Well, I'm still in baby steps...
