Welcome ho_scale_rail
The first thing I would recomend doing is figuring out what you want your model to be.
Which era, steam, diesel or the transition period with both.
Do you want a prototypical layout, in other words one that represents a real existing railroad or a fantasy one, one that doesn't exist anywhere except in your mind.
What industries you want to incorporate.
How do you want to run it, a lot of switching, just letting the train run around in circles, or something inbetween.
Passenger, freight or both.
City, country or both. etc.

How accessable is the plywood? Can you get around all four sides?

Once we get to know more about what you would like to do it will be possable to come up with some suggestions.

Also, visit your local hobby shop and get some books on layout and design. Or you can go to the library and check them out.

Good luck! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
