    The Going Merry is progressing slowly and like for the firefly I take little breaks with small models. The idea to make this one came from the thread here:

    There are also youtube video on how to build it.
    One advice, the bird is built with 80g paper, but I found that at that weight it was tough gluing the toes to the branch so I redid just the legs in 160g

    a problem with my bird was the pause. a real bird would maintain its body more or less horizontal when standing on an oblique branch. At least the legs would not be normal to the branch. The problem is that I finished the bird before I went to look for a suitable twig. I fixed it by repositioning the branch the bird sits on. I am thinking of giving him a companion as my daughter says she wants the female too.

    It looks like it just landed. Birds around here tend to pull themselves down into the twig, once they have landed and sway away with the twig in the breeze. Great job!
