After seeing a post about successfully using a split cork for track cleaning, I tried with a piece of pink extruded styrene ( the one used for making mountains ) . I'm pleased with the result. One can see 2 black lines after rubbing the styrene on the track a few times.
Of course, it's softer than cork, but I think the biggest advantage of using cork or styrene is that it's a lot less abrasive and don't let any residue , compared to Brightboy.
