UPS does ship a lot of stuff via rail using TOFC... I've seen CSX engines hauling some hotshot UPS TOFC unit trains here in New York. A nice train to have on a pike for those of us who model the modern era. :)

I haven't seen unit trains for other carriers (FedEx, DHL, etc.) though... Don't know if they use the rails as much as UPS.

BNSF's fastest, highest priority trains in and out of Los Angeles are the Q-LANY & the Q-NYLA. Q is their designation for highest priority, and LANY is LA to NYC while NYLA is NYC to LA. Theses trains were set up for UPS, but anyone who wants to pay the extra fare and gets their trailers to the rail yard on time can use them. Any of the shipping companies that offer ground service probably use trains, but I don't know if they use their own equipment or if they ship their parcels with another shipper like Schnieder.
