This week, oi 'ave been mostly kitbashing yet another loco.

This time it's an EMD rebuilt P2K GP30. There wasn't much that needed doing apart from removing a few details and adding a few others to turn the model into a GP39E (the E is for EMD). the pictures sort of speak for themselves.

    First the bashing-

Finally, while I'm waiting for the paint to harden, so I can dullcoat/varnish it, a spell out on the road (test track).

Now for another one before starting the layout to run it on.

Looking good, as usual Jon. :thumb:
I'm working on a pair of BN GP35s and am wondering, are the horns on them offset like The ones on your GP39E.

Ray, I have just started converting a GP35 into another GP39E and the horn is definately offset, beside the riveted plate covering the hole left by the small fan. here's a shot of 2907 after rebuilding, and another of the same engine (#2531) before EMD rebuilt it. The horns appear to be offset in both.

    Thanks Jon.
I couldn't tell how they were mounted from the photos I have.

    This one may help

When I did mine (GP30), I mounted the horn into some square section plastic rod, and then mounted the plastic rod into the hood. that seemed to get the required height to clear the fan.
