    My layout progress

Do you mean 3 main lines or 3 trains total? There are many layouts to be found in magazines or the Atlas Layout book. It all depends on what you are looking for, such as switching stub sidings or passenger through sidings. There are many many options.

    My layout progress

Maybe it's time for an update on my layout. I have been adding details such as vehicles and people etc. to try and bring the layout to life. I also added 3 more tracks in the yard as I was running out of space for my collection of cars. Also added a couple of small sidings for maintainance...

    Life Like GP-9 Chop Nose

    Life Like GP-9 Chop Nose

I have the two CN models and have just installed TCS CN-GP decoders in them. I have also done a little detailing by adding tube type spark arrestors a winterization hatch and a beacon over the cabs plus a side mount bell. Only one more thing to figure out and that is to wire the two loco nose...

MRC Sound Decoder for Kato SD70MAC

God job Dwight. The only drawback would be when you have a engine uncoupling from a train and running into an engine house alone or, pulling out of the engine house to pick up a train. Godd idea though for keeping the sound car on a coninuous train.

MRC Sound Decoder for Kato SD70MAC

Re MRC Sound Decoders I forgot to mention that you must make sure that you tape all the cavity before setting the speaker in place to prvent any shorts. I used my Multi Meter to check accross the the 2 frame halves to be sure there was no continuity.

MRC Sound Decoder for Kato SD70MAC

Hi Dwight, I aquired 2 MRC sound Decoders and had the same audio problem due to the tiny speaker. I had an H.O. 8 ohm speaker and set about drilling out the frame of my Kato C44-9 loco inside the plasic fuel tank cover to try to fit it. It took a few hours of work to get the speaker to fit in...

    Kato Unitrack Truss Bridge Bash

That is a beautiful job you did. I wouldn't think that the deck will be movable and operational, or I am wrong?

    Kato Unitrack Truss Bridge Bash

Kato Unitrack Bridge Re. shortening a Kato Unitrack truss bridge. Larry Weinberg Not sure about shotening the bridge but on my layout I believe that I just pulled off the Unitrack clips and installed it with the usual rail joiners. Denyons

    N Scale Road Lines

Roads & Road Lines This was from my old thread at My layout progress ( 1 2 3 ... Last Page) Denyons I picked the brains of a friend who had managed to extract the general road background from a game that he plays on the internet. I have the background saved on my computer and I printed it...

    No more track cleaning....ALMOST

I went on line and purchased my NO-OX from SANCHEM, INC They are in Chicago ILL. 60616 the product # is, NO-OX-ID A Special #R-3266L1 It comes in an 8oz tube but you only need a tiny amount to do a layout. What my club did and I also did on my own layout, was to smear some on to the pad of a...

    No more track cleaning....ALMOST

You are correct. NO-OX is conductive as well as being peventing Oxidization. Our club guys are tottally happy as we only clean our tracks 3 times per year.

    No more track cleaning....ALMOST

We use Atlas Code 80 and Peco Switches. I can't see what difference of track makes. Metal wheels pick up as much dirt as plastic (in my humble opinion) 75% of our members run Micro Trains Cars so there is no way you will get them to change to metal wheels. If you have the best, stick with the...

    No more track cleaning....ALMOST

Hi Tom, Before we started using N0-OX we had to clean the tracks every week without question. You might be OK using a Bright Boy for a small layout but even so I would throw it away and get some NO-OX. Most of the soiling of the rails comes from dirty car wheels and we have some trains pulling...

    No more track cleaning....ALMOST

I heard about a product called No-Ox over one year ago and my club decided to give it a try. The results are amazing. We have only cleaned the tracks on our extensive layout 3 times in one year. We gave the tracks a complete cleaning job and applied a very thin layer of No-Ox over all the rails...

Mike Hagarty's N scale 'Mountain Sub'

No More Track Cleaning Hi Mike, Dennis here from the Edmonton N Scalers. No need to worry any more about track cleaning. I took some advice and purchased some No-Ox and after our N Scalers clean our extensive track we apply a thin coating of the No-Ox and don't touch the track for at least 3...
