    Tom's 1938 Register

This is not an advertisement as I have nothing to gain by touting this. I do think that it is well worth the time and money. "What is Tom's 1938 Register? It is a collection of information, historical in nature, intended for model railroaders who wish to know more about the origins of...

    1913 Indiana Flood

I just put up 4 photos taken in the aftermath of the 1913 Flood. Although this is the Union Traction Co bridge and equipment, I feel that these are good enough to be seen. The destruction from this flood was devastating to railroads in Indiana. The photos were taken at the site of the bridge...

    PC Photo

Here is a PC photo that I have just come by. It was taken down the road a piece at Carthage Indiana in Sept 1974. Carthage is now isolated trackage as it has been severed at both ends.

Do you display your unused trains?

In boxes and in a display case. Sorry, no pix.

    Am I getting to old?

Just looking for a time before... ? Not a simpler time, but a time when men had to do the work and take their chances with the equipment and hours. A time when steam was going out and diesels had got a good start. I'm 69 and I've begun to turn the clock back to just after steam left the...

    Shinohara or pico turnouts

I believe that he is referring to the Custom Line switches (turnouts). I wouldn't recommend the Snap Switch for anyone.

    Shinohara or pico turnouts

I have used both and found them to be good. The only problem is getting them and the price. (Don't shop by mail or e-mail unless I just can't get it any other way.)

    Layout Ideas

Or you could use ready-made frames to build your layout. That way they are removable by unbolting each section from one another. Check out Benchridge Benchwork http://www.benchridge.com/ as an example.

What type of road bed do you use?

Hmmmm, perhaps I have missed something here. Why won't you use cork again? I have used Atlas rubber roadbed until I couldn't get it and homosote in the beginning. Why not cork?

What type of road bed do you use?

I use cork roadbed throughout the layout. Cork over wood. I have used this for years with no trouble except when I varied from a good grade of plywood to a much lessor grade of composite wood. :-) (Soon went back to the plywood)

Do you belong to the NMRA ?

I am a member and I'e been a member since 1980. Why? I am in a very active division with meets and clinics. I have been to Regional Conventions with good success. I have been active with the National in it's websites. There is the Achievement Program. I have ordered things from the...

What era draws your attention the most?

I find that modeling the era when steam was just retired and diesels had taken over is appealing to me.

    Making Track Gauges

It's easy and far more accurate to get an NMRA track gauge rather than to make a gauge yourself. :-)

    What is your favorite car?

I picked caboose simply because it is a unique vehicle on my railroad. I have four and they are all different. Of course I can do that as I have a fictional short line that operates with hand-me-down equipment. :-)
