Well I went to digitrax / soundtrax website and i see their new decoders and they have one for SD40-2's but i don't think it's available yet...anyone have experience with the digitrax/sountrax stuff?...thanks Tom

Hi Deano..thanks for your reply..my issue is the brand new 2008 version of KATO's SD40-2 and they have a speaker baffle already in the fuel tank area...how does the loksound SOUND? and you a right in time to remove shell..lol...Tom

Hi all!bought 2 KATO SD40-2's and have them up and running with DCC decoder...thay swre SWEEET...i want to install decoder with sound and need any and all info and experience with this project..thanks Tom

Just to let you know...I found lots of CAT vehicles at WALMART for 4.78 ea.....a lot cheaper then hoby shop prices of 16-18 dollars ea...all 1/87..regards Tom ( i still love my hoby shop )

Hi all!..I purchased a blueline (BLI) SD40-2 for my layout after reading the report in MR. Well i'm 100 DCC so i installed the MFG recommened decoder.( NCE N14IP ) and i was thrilled with it's operatation...now after not to many hrs on engine..it is acting up...getting jerky. Not comming to...

Well..my 2cents worth..I originall built my layout on old playwood (1/4inch? it was old) and scrap 2x's laying around the cellar...All the track warrped and trains ran lousy...moral of story...benckwork makes good running trains..all new layout section now 3/4 ply built like a rock...still have...

ok..nice thread....question is?has anyone applied polish to rails AFTER being cleaned...I read somewhere that silver polish is good..any comments?..thanks Tom

Anyone convert Kato F-40 to DCC with sound?..I have one of their earlier units but I have not seen much on their new issue that is supposed to convert with drop in decoder...any experienc with this would be appreciated...Tom
