Need help on Lighting & power for structures

I purchased the wheat lights at hobby shops ... I don't think Radio Shack has them ... in fact, Radio Shack has very little in the electronic stuff they used to carry. Local Hobby Shops are the best. You can also get them on line at various model train outlets. Good luck, and let me know how it...

Need help on Lighting & power for structures

Xavier ... I use many types of lights, mostly wheat bulbs ... and basically speaker wire to go from the Radio Shack Power Strips to the liights. I use all colors, but find that basic white lights up interiors, and I use color on walls, etc, to give the room color. My last house, however, has...

Need help on Lighting & power for structures

Here is the photo of the stip used from the trasnformers in my layouy. There are two strips from Radiuo shack, for each side of the line. On top is the line from the transformers (#1) and on the lowser half (#2) are connectors for lights, etc, in the buildings. I have four of these under my...

Need help on Lighting & power for structures

I had a similar problem with my layout in the beginning ... but found an easy solution. I purchased some of those cheap train set transformers from train shows, etc. I then connect the transformer to connector strips from Radio Shack ... and use it as the main strip for buildings. The first...

    shingle road bed?

I have been using old roofing shinges for highways for a while. The older the better, because it shows wear and tear on the highways. I really like the way it looks, and I can put a lot together and cut out curves.

What do you like moste about modle railroading?

I really enjoy all of these things, but like to take the basic structures and change them a bit to match my layout. I kit-bash some things, alter others. I just enjoy being on the bench and adding things to the layout. Sure is relaxing to "be in control" of my H-O world that operates on my time...

    Combining hobbies

Yes, the train does run on a track supplied in the box ... but I was pleased to learn that the train also fits my H-O track on my layout. But, because it is more of a "toy", I keep it in my computer room as a reminder of my layout in the basement. It was a gift from family, and has sentimental...

    Combining hobbies

Does anybody combine hobbies besides me? I have several hobbies, and several are incorporated into my layout (golf, etc) ... but this may be the first time I incorporated model railroading into another hobby. One of my other hobbies is square dancing. Over the weekend, our square dance club had...

    What do you listen to.

I usually just grab one of the many CD's in the computer room and listen to it, regardless of type (Classic, pop, Zydeco, Jazz, bluegrass, etc) ... but the main fallback is usually Country ... I have always liked C+W ... and have said for a number of years ... "If it ain't Merle ... it ain't!"...

Sure is nice that the snow is gone, and we can get down to John's Hardware and Lumber store. Other folks are there, too, jogging along the road, loading lumber on the pick-up truck, etc ... isn't spring wonderful!

    WS plaster cloth/hydrocal fun

Here's my two cents worth ... when I started my layout, I realized I had a LOT OF SPACE to cover ... so after putting the builders foam in place, I talked with someone at the local hospital ... and was able to get some of that plaster material used to cover broken bones ... plaster rolls. I also...
