Thanks everyone . Like I said there is much to be done yet . Ironically there really wasn't a plan as such. more of just a general idea . The buildings were purchased basically one at a time and placed as I got them. The track plan was kept simple for kid reasons so the basic loops were used ...

I haven't posted anything in a while , and I've made a little progress recently. Still very much to do however. As I described once upon a time , I'm somewhat modeling SW PA / Pittsburgh suburbs not far out of town. Nowhere specific. There is still a lot to do on trees and wooded areas ...

I have all ways loved the F-units! Here's my Pennsy F-3 and some unfinished scenery.

I actually take the engine to be cleaned off the track completely and turn it over in the plastic box it came in . Then using an old transformer and some wires to the brass cpntacters under the engine I give it some power so that the wheels turn. Then I very lightly use a rasor blade to scrape...

That looks great ! I also live in the Pittsburgh area (Shaler/ North Hills ) . I have works over there in Turtle creek. The North Hills like Turtle Creek is by no means "rural". I have been modeling The general Pittsburgh , North Hills area in my layout as well , no place specific though...

Just put them on the same track together and see if one runs away from the other. Add cars to them and see if the results are the same . If one runs away from the other to quickly then the two are not matched.

I think they mean if they run at the same speed and strength .

Fantastic work! The f units in your 3rd pic, Are those new? Are they Atlas ? When I was A littlw kids my dad had an N scale train , just a few cars and an engine , a few buildings and I just loved it !!!!! That f unit was the same exact one he had . I still have a few of the cars from that...

Should have mentioned the Conway railyard down the river a little . You would have loved that ! I've been told it's the second largest in the country behind Chicogo
