Coal burning powerplant

Some of the LPB workers couldn't wait for the completion so set up a couple of window boxes at the entrance while they had nothing else to do

There are three chimneys for this plant. I made them out of pine cutting them with my Craftsman router lathe. I don't think Sears carries those router lathes anymore but it works well and was affordable when I got it in the 80s

This view will give you some idea of how this plant will look.
The chimneys and transformers are in place.
Next step is the frame work that will carry the high voltage lines

Robin,
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Whenever you post a new set of pics I call a co-worker (who's not a model railroader) over to see. He says you have MUCH more patience than he has.

Dumb question: what's a router lathe?

There are no dumb questions mhdishere
Sears actually call this unit a router crafter. If you can read the text. It acts like a lathe but with more options than the usual wood cutting lathe

Robin, that looks fantastic! Nice work on those scratch built transformers! The layered walls look excellent and I think that striped smoke stack really adds to the overall look of the scene. Amazing!
