I used to be mainly steam but as of late, I've gotten more and more into diesel locomotives. I still love steam but the diesels are cool too. I'm kinda curious as to what everyone's favorite style of diesel locmotive is. I'm not going to try and make a poll or anything because there are too many to list but I think it would be intersting to see where everyone's tastes lie.

For me, I think the old F7's and F9's are by far the coolest.

Big Modern diesels, such as GE's C44's, AC's, EMDs' SD 70's, 80's and 90 series.
Also some second generation, mostly form EMD. GP35's,38's......
Though the GP9, is my favorite frist generation.

It's hard to beat the F3.

But for me it's the Geeps that I love. Anything from a GP-20 to a GP-60. The SD-40 is a close second, but the six axles just don't look as good.

I like my UP AC6000 and NP ES44DC the best,but I also have a BN SD70,BNSF SD75I that I really like.I need some smaller engines,I wouldn't mind a GP38 or GP60 and I like SD38 and SD40/5's alot.

The best looking one I have though is a A/B set of PCM AT&SF F3's,beautiful engines.

Why this is an EASY QUESTION:thumb:, my TWO FAVORITE diesels are(in NO particular order);
1- FM's:D
2- EMD's
2- GE's
2- Alco's
2- Baldwin's

SEE, i told you folks it was EASY!:thumb: stooges8 tooth1-Deano

I prefer BBD's (Big Beautiful Diesels) 6000hp +

Well that certainly limits your choices!I have a BLI UP AC6000CW that's really nice, but there's not many 6000HP models out there although I'd like to get a Kato SD90 one day.

Cummins.

Oh wait, you mean railroad diesel. Hmmmm, for me it's a toss up between the FT and the RS-1.

Ahhhh!!! Say it ain't so... ;) :D

I am a steam guy too, but if I had to choose, I'd say any early experimental, like CN's 9000-9001 box cab units. Or any box cab for that matter. As for more "mainstream" diesels, I'd have to go with the RS-1.
