Ok I admit it, I've secretly always thought it would be fun to do this.
What personality traits would your locomotives have if they could talk and think, like the characters in The Railway Series/Thomas the Tank Engine?
You can give yours names if you want, although I haven't. Diesel engines can be included as well as steam, and the don't all have to be a**holes like "Diesel" himself!
C&NW semi-streamlined 4-6-2 #1617 is the fastest locomotive on the railroad and knows it, and is usually responsible for the crack express. She finds freight work beneath her dignity, is very proud of her bright yellow and green paintwork, and generally looks down her nose at any engine she considers "old", "slow", or "shabby". A bit of a combination of James and Gordon from Thomas the Tank Engine.
Union Pacific 4-4-0 #119 is the wise old sage of the railroad, like Edward or Toby. Has seen better days mechanically but has also seen just about everything and isn't rattled by much. Not as powerful as the newer, bigger engines but must work hard to prove he is still useful, or it's the scrapper's torch for him!
Southern Railway 0-4-0 #6636 is the lowly yard switcher, relegated to pushing and pulling cars into the proper order to make up trains for the other engines. He longs to get out of this boring routine and "see the world". Where have we heard this tale before...?
