I've already posted these pictures elsewhere, but here they are again.
This isn't my "first" locomotive (that came with a Bachmann train set in 1989), but looks just like it and replaced it when it broke down. The Santa Fe F unit seems to be the most popular locomotive there is for train sets, or at least it was for awhile.
This Athearn Milwaukee Road GP9 was purchased only a year or two after the train set, and ran with the train set Bachmann F unit when the "layout" still consisted of only the circle of train set track. It is still a regular fixture on the head end of trains on our layout.
First steam locomotive, from Bachmann. Ran for only 2-3 years, has been in storage since.
