Hello, I'm starting a thread with my builds of the awesome mechs designed by Whammy from MekTek forum. His models have a distinctive cartoony look which make them great!!

He kindly allowed to convert them to paper media, so I and another guy from mw3 forum (vlmarshall) are cleaning his meshes, hope he posts his stuff here too...

My first completed model is the Phoenix Hawk, with House Liao skin. The head is the most difficult part, accordingly my beta tester ;)

AWESOME!! (The adjective, not the 'mech). I love that he got many of the original "lost 14" that FASA actually swiped from Harmony Gold (lost because they are no longer produced, the designs made to look different, lawsuit, etc. etc.)

I am one thrilled 'mechwarrior!

Nice comments, Whammy's mechs are great, that's why I'm working on them ;)

This one probably will be the next to be released, as I almost finished cleaning it (although the shoulders still need some cleaning). Whammy's models look simple, but they are more complex then they seem to be to clean, but I think I will be able to finish it soon...

Do you think there would be any chance you'd release a Macross skinset for the mechs that were part of the "lost 14" as Kjev put it? I know the rifleman is the same as the Defender battroid that we have in the downloads here, but how about a Zentradi skin for the Marauder, for example? I'd love to see more macross representation on here!

Macross is Robotech in the US, just in case anyone wasn't aware of that :p



Edit: as soon as I post, I realise the Marauder has already been released... Still, anyone feel like making a zentradi skin for it? sign1
 
Zecks, who used to post on this forum (the ED-209 which is floating around wasmade by him) did a Zentraedi Battle Pod long ago, not sure if it is still available, as he dropped all his stuff due to piracy...
 
I have the regult battlepod, not sure if that's the one you mean. Haven't gotten around to making it, since i want to print it in colour (I've only got b&w).

Actually, looking through the files here, I see that there is a blank skin attached, and it looks pretty easy to customise them. I think I'll break out the old graphics tablet and do some painting :D Bit rusty though, haven't textured anything since I was into the halflife 1 mod scene.. wow, that must be 6-7 years ago at this stage! how time flys :O
 
Zeck's Zentraedi Ossifer's Pod

I did get a copy of Zeck's Officer's Pod/Marauder. Found it here searching the forums as a matter of fact. It was very well done, as much of Zecks' work is. Have to see if my old hard drive is recoverable to find out if I still have it or not. But a search of the forum here might dig it up too.

Managed to find it there, thanks for the heads-up Kjev!

I'm currently building Walter's mw4 Madcat, it's going together nicely. Might do the marauder next. What's your work order on the rest of whammy's models shift? what sorta % completion would you say you're at?

You're more than welcome. You wouldn't have the URL where you found it handy would you?

And You wouldn't happen to have Walter's MadCat as well? From what I've seen it's one of the best models out there.

As for my completion rate, I'd have to say I'm at the "getting paper & ink for the printer" stage. My house blew up in February, taking my desktop machine, printer, scanner, digital camera, laptop, and pretty much everything else with it. I have several models in the "to build" list, but have been working on other things (like a new house), and don't have the room right now in our apartment.

BUT, I'd love to see how your work is going if you get the chance.

Hehe, it took me as long to find the link again, as it did the first time. Zeck's officer pod is here, which i found in this thread.

The Madcat is coming along well, just got one leg left to do. The torso is complete, and looks very well if i do say so myself :) I found it over on mw3.org, there is an excellent sticky thread by CMO Sturm here, with links to pretty much every released paper mech. Walter's madcat is here.

How about an Axeman AXM-2N? Adem Stiner had one in the Battletech Animated series.
Oh yes. Whammy, I could kiss you but my GM will most definitely will want to. I just found your Marauder model. I just earned my chance at the Marauder and Cauldron Born in game.

Firstly Battlemaster, with cleaning complete and Pepakura work started. I will build the beta test for it, if I have the time.

Second (probably) Highlander, with around 80% of the cleaning done.

Third (maybe) Madcat MkIV, whith around 50% of the cleaning done

Forth (maybe) Wasp. I didn't started cleaning, but as it was heavily based on Phoenix Hawk, which I already finish, its cleaning would be easier...

Fifth or Sixth: Zeus or Warhammer IIC. Both I didn't start, but depending on how easy or difficult they will be, they could jump to 3rd or 4th...

The rest of the models will be done by vlmarshall, who already released 3 models, as we share the work between us...
 
Think Floyd ... going mad with the link button is OK in my book...especially when you turn up a link to more Mech papermodels than I ever thought even existed!

I suppose I will have to download a few for building at some point :thumb: Good find!
