Here's CN 5606, an Genesis SD70I I detailed for Chris (CRed) in trade for half the value of an RTR AC4400.

A Canadian in Riverside?

Friday, September 14th, 2007: Both railfans and the populus of Riverside were surprised at what lead the local freight today around 4:29 P.M. What usualy was led by the well known F3 or B23-7. the freight was led by an unkown engine.
The Riverside Railroad (RRR) is famous for running the Chicago and Northwestern (CNW) uinits F3 #4056 and RS-32 #4242, some of the last of their locomotive type still existing today, along with RRR #1116, a 'Hustler' type of switcher, currently undergoing repairs, and also said to be the last existing example of its type. Along with a Conrail B23-7 #1992, these four engines make up the entire fleet of engines currently under the RRR's direct ownership. Or so it was thought untill today.
Indeed, the railfans got a special treat to something very rare to the rails nowadays, which many claim is one of the RRR's claims to fame. A FA2, CN #6750 was the engine that hauled the freight today. Many are now thinking that this is going to get worse, however. "It'll be just like what happened with that blue one, probably" said John Carpenter, owner of 'Midtown Apliance Sales and Service' "There's gonna be turmoil in the ownership departments over this new arival, considering that whatever railroad it came from is probably still running, unlike the blue one." More details about this mysterious engine are still unkown at this time.
Reality- This is one of the new engines I got cheap at DCCTrain. Although almost 2 decades old, this thing runs good enough for me. This is also my 2nd cab unit, so I can run it with my F3 for A-A runs:mrgreen:

I was taking a few photos to show some freight cars that I'd just finished painting and lettering, and decided to photograph a couple of Jordan vehicles that I'd also just completed. The first couple pictures show the problem that I encountered: can't get a real close-up.
That's about the best that I could get from a distance of roughly 3" - the camera simply won't focus at that distance. Just to see if it would make any improvement, I took a few shots using an unusual accessory.
Here's the same car as above:
The picture above was shot through the lense of my Opti-Visor, the blind modellers friend.
It worked so well here that everybody can see the results of my poor housekeeping:

I'll have to look for the close-up lenses that I use with my 35mm camera, to see if they might be even better for this job.

Below a KP&W switcher pulls a string of coil cars with retractable covers that were loaded at Kings Port Steel. I like these cars and buy them whenever I see them at flea markets. I've heard (maybe on this forum) that the retractable covers were unreliable and would jam at times. I still like the way they look though.

BTW, i am having the same problem with my new camera, i just cant get real good closeup shots with it:frowns: . i paid a lot more for the new one then my old one, but liked the older one MUCH BETTER:winki: , just goes to show ya, "new and improved" IS NOT always better:winki: .

Left them off, I painted the end portions per prototype, but left everything off for packing purposes. No need to include them in my shots, they're nothing special really, just normal Genesis rails, lol.

I really like that Connecticut fastner structure eightyeightfan1. Who makes it , Walthers ? or is it kitbashed ?
Here is my humble contribution , I'm starting the scenery on my N scale microlayout . Yes, scenery is fun and my wife gave me some suggestion about where the rocks should be located.. Now that I'm at the scenery step my wife will get more involved in the project.
