Wow! It looks like you are off to a very good start! One tip: If you cut off all the tabs and use paper strips to connect the parts from the back side you'll achieve an even cleaner result. ;)
 
I’ll try the paper. I was thinking that last night as I pursued around the site a bit. If it turns out a lot better I may have to rebuild the hull!
 
Where the letters are written , the overlap, try and clean that up by making the name of the ship colored on the edge. These tiny details will make your eye pass over the area. Tabs will really give you an accrued intolerance problem. You're better off cutting strips tailored for each part. Glue one strip to once side, dry fit when strip is dried, and you will see how much nicer the edges line up. This method puts adjoining parts of the same plane. Looks really good so far ;)

She looks beautiful, much better than my first attempt! I'm currently building the same model for the third time lighting it up as well, progress has been delayed with moving in the last couple of months.
