Going to have a go at this one

I've printed it on A3 Card so its a bigger build.

I'm not 100% sure it will work, the A3 Card is a little "light".

I've also started buy chopping the sphere into strips (rather than the large orange peel part) and constructing it from the bottom up

It appears that you are off to a great start.
If I may suggest, cut the parts out just inside the lines. Then assemble. You will get cleaner results.
I am looking forward to seeing how this project turns out!

Great start Maybe this will help you to assemble the sphere. Use thin label stickers and cut them in small parts. Then you can glue the strips inside the sphere this will reduce the gaps.

Bit more of the Sphere

I'm not going to do the rest of the Sphere yet - i'll focus on the Neck and body so i can put some wooden Kebab Skewers inside to help it's structural integrity

This is a hard design for a sphere.
I might try a solid foam ball to mash out the sphere, it's a hard model to get right, maybe cut out the printed details and use another sphere model and just add them on?

I cut each strip (you can see in the first few photos), then curled them around a pencil so they curved. No scoring at all

Someone suggested that I used too heavy paper when I did mine. What weight were you using?

I saw the size is A# but what was the weight? 67lb? 110 lb?

Unfortunately I don't know. Its just whatever card we had a work, it's lightweight tho - not much heavier than paper
