Cockpit canopy. Amazing work doesn't come close to describing this incredible piece of arteneering. As UHU02 draws closer to the finish of this superb work you may wish to take several precautions such as head clamps to try and avoid exploding, move the computer to the floor to view, not so far to fall when fainting then and if there is a swear box where you are setting up a direct debit on your account.

Well, what else can I say? It's another UHU02 masterpiece, and once again, hard to believe it's made of PAPER!

I bow before you, master UHU02.

Swear box has already secured my next big holidays!

Gixergs, thank you very, very much for giving us the updates. Moreover, your comments are most entertaining! :thumb:

I believe with imcold's beauty and UHU02's masterpiece there won't be many people daring to make another X-Wing model.

It looks great...it looks super..

But...(and please don't shoot me)

isn't the x wing to clean?....

And will there be a recolor of the details?..to get closer to the Red3?

Personally I think the clean - fresh from the factory - look fits with the cutaway concept. Also, Imcold did such an amazing job with his model and it's weathering that the crispness on UHU02's model separates the two masterpieces more.

Exactly, couldn't have said it better, which is why I didn't! These are two master pieces and the differences allow for a really cool looking diorama. :)

The model UHU has made here is really blowing me away with the inside detail. It begs for a diorama exploiting that, with all the little maintenance carts, etc. :)

Nearly there now. As far as weathering goes I think given the museum like nature of the cutaway model the crisp new look is fitting as it helps the amazing amount of detail stand out and doesn't draw the eye away from it. If using the model in a diorama then pastels could be used to weather the model for the grittier dirty look. If I had the skill to build this I would do it as if a museum display with a key included in the case as to what the various bits were.

Another option would be to have it part pristine and part weathered with C3PO and R2D2 cleaning it and maybe "Also available in white" written in the dirt.

I would like to contribute. Personally I do like the factory-fresh version of X-Wing, especially as a museum/display piece, not least as there are so many film-based battle-scarred X-Wings already out there.

However... the exhausts are (apparently) carbonised. They're brown. They're dirty. They're heavily used. But the rest of the ship isn't. At least that's how it looks to me: most parts pristine, some parts heavily weathered.

EDIT: update of a tarnished and cleaned version of the same pair of exhausts.

UHU has ROYALY OUTDONE himself with this model.
It is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT just the way it is.
I have to agree that it makes for a PERFECT museum piece. ( personally would keep it that way.)

Little pieces go to make a little R2D2 worthy of display on his own.
