U.S.S. Reliant - NCC-1864

Fantastic! I built this one myself awhile ago, came out terrible :( All the faults you picked up (saucer bubbled, warp nacelles twisted & overall flimsy model). This looks fantastic and the tutorial makes me want to give the Reliant another go! (going to do Defiant 1:400 this weekend though :))
 
The Miranda class ships seem more realistic too me, than nacelles hanging off of long thin arms. :)
 
But, Zathros, don't forget in the absence of gravity the supports we see on the Enterprise, etc would only have to be strong enough to handle the load of the nacelle itself :)

I still like the Miranda's though :)

Inertia is the problem, not gravity. Gravity would be easier to overcome. Of course, Star Trek, and Star Wars, unlike Battlestar Galactica, and Babylon 5, had universes where inertia didn't exist. Their craft fought like "airplanes" in space. Nitpicking, and I do like Star Trek, just takes a bit more of a "suspension of reality". The clip below, @ 1:57 minutes shows some of the best inertia displayed in fighting scenes, IMHO. :)

LOL, point taken, it's very true what you say :) But, lets face it, those massive fleet actions we see in Star Trek & WW2 style dogfights in Star Wars (which Lucas wanted :)) would not look as good if inertia was factored in.

I am a BSG fan. The scene where Apollo attacked the Cylon Tyllium factory, where he comes in full tilt boogei, flips the bird the exact opposite direction, the, through the use of the control jets, flies through the tunnels, comes up on deck, and hugs the surface, all the inertia held tight. I could not find that clip. I think it was removed. It is awesome. Of course, if you can control gravity, then who's to say that flying them around like atmospheric ships would not be possible? :)
