Thanks for the great links! There's also Transit Toronto (check their photo section) and Mostly PCCs, with pix of PCCs in 12 different cities (including of course Philly, Cleveland and Toronto).

Hey thanks for the links CN1. That is terrific stuff. Boy seeing some of those Phila. Trollys takes me back. I remember riding the Trolly With my Grandfather from Phila to out in the suburbs where we lived. That was back in the 50's. I swear some day I got to setup something Traction Wise on my layout. See if I could get some of the P.T.C. Trollys. I have no clue about Traction stuff. Gotta research this. Thanks for the Memories! Robt.

Robt, I don't know where it is but I can tell you what it is. It's a PCC, which stands for President's Car Conference, held in the 1930s by a group of streetcar company presidents to design a standard vehicle. They took over from the Peter Whitt's, the earlier model and were replaced by CLRVs (Canadian Light Rail Vehicle). Toronto is one of the few cities in North America to still have streetcars running in regular service.
Chris will probably be able to tell you where it was, and also when the last PCC was taken out of regular service.

For the real detail hounds: I think all the PCCs shown in this thread were "air-electric" cars from before the end of WW II. Recognizable by the large square windows that didn't line up with the seats. Most of the accessories in these cars were run by compressed air -- doors, gong, brakes, windshield wipers. The later cars had small square windows with other windows above them and the accessories were worked by electricity.

Well now you've went and done it! Turned me into a Traction Nut. Now I'm cruising Traction club Websites. Even found one close by. Went to my sad sack layout to see if there's room for them. Ehh- we'll just make room. Hehe. Honestly Thanks fella's for all the info on the PCCs. It really helps. Took a look at Bowser stuff. Seems OK. Must be others that put these out. Hope I can get some info. Hmm. now I gotta figure out overhead wires. Robt. OOps I think this is SEPTA.

Philly still run PCC`s colour white with red stripes I think :thumb:
We have a couple of TTC PCC`s at Rock wood museam, I drove them in the mid 80`s and the CLRV also the ALRV. I work for the TTC btw
and operated the new ones up to 2001.
Now Check out Val (spitfires ) web page and you will find a how to make poles to hang overhead.
In the street I would span them.
