Hello to everyone on the N scale forum. As you can tell this is my first post. I am working on a N scale layout for the first time and was wondering if track grades N scale are the same as HO scale? (2" per 100") I am in the track planning stage using 3rd PlanIt software. Track planning always seem to be the hardest part for me. I am trying to do a NW logging prototype with steam. I have a room about 9' x 11' to put the layout in. I am trying to workout a U shape layout from the door to door with a starting height of 55". So any info would be great

Welcome to the Gauge, Raymond. In answer to your grade question, the calculation is independent of the scale. A 2" rise over a 100" run is 2%, no matter what the scale. (Of course, in N scale you don't have to rise as much!)

Thanks Billk that was fast. I didnt even think about how high i really needed the track to rise. I guess I was still thinking in HO. ;)
