Just had a quick look around ebay (UK) and there is a couple of base stars ending in the next couple of days. Cheep enough. And my nephew is mad on sci-fi models, so christmas sorted for him, if I win.
Just need ideas about how to get the textures, take photos or scan the kit. Never done this before.

His galactica was excellent, so if gearz is having a go at a base star it will be good. Look forward to seeing it.
LOL! Well I've just wated an hour!
I downloaded a high poly mesh of a Basestar. I was going to use it for creating textures to apply to my own LOW poly mesh. No need to now then.
Oh well, I have plenty on my plate as is I suppose. Back to the new fleet!!

Just as an FYI, the refined petroleum based Basestar model kit is scheduled to be re-released in the near future with improved detail. Supposedly more accurate to the studio model, Galactica, Viper and Raider kits also. Don't want you to pay for overpriced "collector" kits if you don't have to.

Beautiful build of that ship SteveK. I have two of them - one I have never quite finished I did in a totally made up color scheme with the base color black. The other is still in the package. I still have lots of those petroleum kits I've never gotten around to building. I'm sure I will some day, but for now, paper rules.

Just to clear up any confusion, I didn't build this shipops:. These are pics of a studio scale Basestar I found on the net. I just posted them in case anyone needed some reference material. I found some nice renders of the Pegasus if anyone wants them also.

Got tham. I've seen those, they're froma fan created mesh over at scifi-meshes. Can't remember the creators name now but the mesh was awesome!

Well, doing all this work on these BSG meshes has got me real interested in the ships and the series now, so I went out tonight and bought season one on DVD.
Now I can watch the show and start collecting some reference pics :mrgreen:
I'm still plugging away at the other ships. Been getting sidetracked by my inner perfectionist on a couple areas though. The liners should be available this weekend. Just whipping up the instructions now.

That I do. I don't get how you guys don't over there?? Normally, we Brits can't get anything on DVD until it's been released over the pond first.
It's a good season, I had to wait for the DVD's to be released before I could see them all though. Damn! I can't wait to see season4!
I'll be starting a beta thread on the 3 foot Liner later today. I got it yesterday morning and I'm about halfway through building the hull. SJ did a cracking job here! I'll design a stand for the Liners, the variant I have now is the Olympic Carrier. I'll do a special stand for that one as it's the main Liner in the show. Watch the episode titled,"33" SJ. I'll do a stand that incorperates the note that Laura Roslin keeps in her draw I think.
I can't wait now to get the new Battlestars when we get to them. I'll also be building those at 3', very imposing!! After seeing this Liner take shape I'm getting real excited about those. Even though we're a way away from them yet.
