If I understood it correctly, you guys are debating about whether the side panels of the cockpit should be glued to the "skin" or the inner structure, is that right? If that is the case, then a pic from the MASTER"s site should end that doubt:

You guys are doing an incredible job on this model, a fact I appreciate more now that I printed it out.....Man, it's small! I think that when I actually get time to build it, I'll probably build it landing gear up, with a pilot in the cocpit, nice and simple for the first attempt. Then I'll get it printed out much larger, 'cause I can tell you my bananna fingers aren't gonna be able to handle the small interior parts! I'll do the same with Uhu's UFO Interceptor too. It's really inspirational to see this stuff being built so beautifully, great thread!

Since I have noticed some fitting issues myself (which mainly COULD have been caused by the fact that I haven't cut the slits into the formers wide enough) I believe there will be some difficulties in everyone's build. We use the same plans but we don't use the same paper like the master did, and depending on accuracy of our assembly there will be some (minor) individual adaptations necessary here and there. The positive aspect of this is that every one will end up with his own personal model.

Unfortunately my allergy is troubling me again :curse: . I have therefore switched to a project which requires no glue, meaning the unfolding and texturing of the New BSG hangar bay. I'm preparing the whole repair bay in scale with UHU's Viper. I still need to make the floor and the hangar walls behind the catwalk. I hope that everything is better next week so that I can continue with the Viper.

silveroxides Viper

The way that is pictured in the undressed version above, is probably how I am going to display it. It will either have a two section wall hangar diorama or displayed on a hangar deck floor

Here is how I made my oxygen canisters. This procedure will work with the smaller parts too Keep in mind, that the wrapping tool, should be smaller in diameter than the piece being made The wrapping will give the part structural strength. The top cap or the oxygen dispenser cap has a thin laminated edge which helps in adhesion of the parts edge stripping. Enjoy and hope to see some more of the other builds:thumb:

Here are the parts for the engine exhausts.
I decided to go with the black exhaust disks, because, once this Viper is finished, it will be in either a "Repair" or "Overhaul" state.






I used glue strips to help reinforce the edge glued seams.

The build starts with one step at a time, before you know it, you are running and it wont be too long before you are flying.

I noticed in all the builds, to include my own and even UHU, the viper wants to droop at the front. In the next attempt, I believe that if you build the frame work bottom first, it will make the top fall in place and any trimming necessary could be done to the top and keep the pressure off the framework. especially the front piece bulkhead.

Please, I have to explain that I couldn't find the paper in the grammature I needed (170gsm). :cry: Fortunately, I discovered a nearby paper distributor that delivers, so I've bought papers in 170 and 230 gsm, in both A4 AND A3 sizes. :mrgreen: :thumb:
Should I try to follow RF's steps and upscale it in order to print it in A3, I guess I'll be able to do it. The problem was my printer, that repeatedly refused to pull the paper sheets I had, because of a mechanical problem. Problem solved, I bought a new printer, and this time it's a Brother A3 multifunctional. :twisted: If that doesn't print, then I'll give up (naaaah... ).
Not that I'm giving excuses, but I'm building three models (you can check the threads and drop a PM to RF), and I'm also between houses. It's a total mess, but I've been trying to keep it up. ops:
Nevertheless, when RF invited me to this group, I enthusiastically accepted, and I should not be the one to drop this ball. So, I'll take the papers home (they delivered it to my workplace), and start working, but let me warn you: it'll be in a rather small pace, ok?

And here are the pics that I have so far of my approximately 1:72 scale build. I was guestimating that the ejection seat would be roughly 18" wide so I printed it at 61%. I used an HP desktop printer and 61# card stock.

By the looks of that pry bar, it appears that our new crew chief is spoiling for some toaster trouble as he inspects the new bird.

Chief wasn't paying attention, they installed the forward cockpit bulkhead backwards! I think that he missed that snaffu due to a little too much fuel grade alcohol the night before.

Tiny TINY pieces!

Hmm . . . I notice Chief is missing in action. Must be playing a hand with Starbuck.

that's it for now from the depths of Galactica Skunkworks. Hopefully Chief will be back next time to make sure everything is done the right way first time around.

Now that's a challenge! I've been gathering all the courage I have to build this thing in the scale it was made, and maybe ease my life by rescaling it to fit an A3, and you downscale it even more? This thread was fantastic, now I won't miss this for the world!
