The Chinese junk

I welcome all interested parties in the gallery I added photographs of the Chinese junk here I will punish how came into existence.

I started the party by picking the free model up from the Polish forum, next we are printing all elements we are sticking to cardboard we are cutting out and we are gluing together.

and here the first attention of the formerson on the beak and the stern should be stuck in this way ( for us it will make the work easier at the more distant stage) :

When we have a ready skeleton of the body we are cutting out and we are sticking the first forest floor, there will be a stuck appropriate wooden wooden floor to it

At more distant stages wood was already main material. For building this ship I used the mahogany and beech veneer. I slashed the deck to do beech veneer (across fibres!!!!) on 10 one-centimetre pieces. In this way I received elements about dimensions of 10 x 30 cm which I slashed (along fibres!!) to belts for widths of 5 centimetres thanks to that I received "boards" 5 x 10 cm. In a photo it is shown how it is easiest to get the precise dimension of "boards" each time (the photograph is showing making slats about the smaller width but the rule of operation is the same)

To the caretaker of the veneer I used scalpels but it can be also the razor blade or other tool which he lets precisely bite.
IMPORTANT!!
we are never slashing the veneer one time, we always cut the veneer in two with a few pulls of the blade, thanks to that the blade won't move on fibres of wood destroying our work.
we can also slash the wetted veneer what fibres will be softer hanks to that the work will be a bit lighter

Now important remarks for the adhesive bonding of the veneer.

how to join two elements certainly everyone knows, the problem with the veneer consists in it that applying glue on the basis of water (for example Vikol or pattex wood express) the veneer always warps.
if only to prevent it we must on top of gently moisten the veneer with brush immersed in the water. We must make it with the tact so that don't distort the veneer in the wrong direction, but only cause that he remains flat.

having ready "boards" and knowing properly to stick them I commenced sticking them aboard, when everything was stuck the entire deck was grinded for the improvement in the appearance
I performed the imitating of sealing aboard gluing the black Bristol board in between boards it is the best way to make it but not only some modellers are using black thread or are painting edges of boards black.
I performed the imitating of nails from contributions to the propelling pencil stuck in drilled 0.5 mm holes, it isn't best material: / (during the work very much is dirtying the ready deck) far more better there are skewers or a copper wire fitted to the hole.

Since tomorrow I am going to work and I must get enough sleep today on it I am finishing but tomorrow I will already place more distant stages of the structure of this ship

after finishing the deck I started sewing the body.
the body was covered with the mahogany veneer for cutting arcs out I prepared elements from the carton about shape and the curve needed for me which were needed for me. from ready cardboard forms I cut out veneer.

having a ready body I stuck essential beams and I started to build of superstructure

A next step was finishing superstructure and making stakes and ferrules ferrules were made garment pins and next tanned above the candle.

on the following days I performed construction rudder, anchor, pulley and imitation of bamboo which will let fasten sails


I performed the imitating of bamboo polishes with sandpaper wooden skewers for getting the desired shape and then gently blackening it with hot blade of the knife.

having ready imitations of bamboo I cut sails from the old shirt and I soaked them gently in coffee and I sewed sticks of bamboo on to them

after making sails fun with the rigging began, with assembly of the sail on the mainmast and with hanging the anchor

in the end an installed sail stayed on the foremast, and made oars, flags and the barrel

I think that it is for the beginning for everyone who wants to try one of the best models out of fun with wood. It is the simplest model but giving a lot of satisfaction from so finishing construction I am waiting to see your chinese junk
