Hello everybody,

I wanted to share with you my build of Shunichi Makino’s A-Wing

After finishing with Rey’s Speeder, I had to decide what to build next and then I stumbled upon bigpetr’s build. I liked the changes he did on that model and since I had the A-Wing on my TODO List anyway (one of many Star Wars Models) I chose that including changes and greebles.

First, I built the base.

I made two prints, one for the basic box and the second to add another layer on the surface. I reinforced it with card from cereal boxes.

To keep the box stable and in shape I built some right-angled tubes with three surfaces and placed them on each edge.

Then I glued the sides one by one on the card and closed the corners

After the base I started with the cockpit.
I combined Shunichi’s parts 24,25,26,27 to one single box and turned all the graphical elements on the sides to 3D objects.

Thank you guys.

Next I started on the main body

I devided the hull to wings and mainbody, reinforced the mainbody with card from cerealboxes. I changed the templates in that way so I had the wings as one peace.

Unfortunately, I can not show any pictures of that stage. They were lost during transfer :( .

I went a similar way like bigpetr with his build

https://www.zealot.com/threads/star-wars-a-wing-shunichi-makino-heavy-mods-1-48.180415/page-2

First i bent the wings into shape making them a bit wet from the inside so they keep the form. After they where dry i put some cereal card inside with the same form to cut out the black slits. I used some black card shaped in U-form to cover the slits from the inside. After some try's i finally found the right shape and glued it into place.
Then i connected the top and bottomparts at the front and wrapped them over the main body which i made out of cereal card. When everything was ok i finally connected the wings.

This Picture is the only one I could recover. The wings are already finished and atached to the mainbody

Then I build the Engineplate

The canopy
Look, I built myself a hammer :)
For the form I built Sunichi's original canopy and then I formed it using a grinder and sandpaper until the desired shape. After

A quick test

Then I printed out the black canopy parts twice, one normal a bit bigger and one inverted and a bit smaller. I placed the bigger one on the outside and the smaller one on the inside exactly on the same position so now glue is visible.

Some additional greebles

Amazing build! The extra details make it really pop. I'm sure this will inspire other builders to make similar enhancements. Thank you for sharing it with us! :)

As for the next build: Shunichi's AT-AT is a very good kit. And rumours have it that someone has developed a not-too-shabby-looking Colonial Viper Mk. I kit. ;)

Thank you Revell-Fan.

No the AT-AT is not very high on my ToDo list.
I have built already two big Star Wars Models, now i need to do something different from Star Wars.
Besides if i decide to build a "Dog" ;) i would try to do the AT-M6 with details.

Maybe the Alien Derelict which is already cut out and ready for gluing ?
