She never really supported my involvement in this hobby. Then again she thought that it was childish and a waste of money. With that being said, my current fiance thinks that this is a really cool hobby and is always excited when I build something new. Even when she sees me build something, she still has a hard time believing that it was made of paper.Sorry to hear about the model destruction. Unfortunately, it is going to be awhile before I can build again. I am currently back in school studying to be a Paralegal. So once I finish school and start working again, I will be able to start building again.
Well I certainly do appreciate your interest and your work that you share with the forum. I'm sure most member will reiterate the same!
I am really happy that you've found someone that enjoys what you do as a hobby and values you as a person.

Paralegal work can be rewarding in the short term. Just a word of warning though you'll be dealing with some arrogant people depending on the attorneys in your particular firm. If you go "full throttle" think about doing work in the "patently absurd" field of patent law. The attorneys are "normally" pretty grounded in comparison to some of the attorneys in other fields of endeavor out there. If however you get along well with a particular law firm and enjoy the work continue on.Just a recommendation.
The world does need more engineers and scientists and you've clearly got some ability in the engineering direction. Ever thought about becoming an engineer?

I am planning to work for the State Attorney General's (AG) Office or the District Attorney's (DA) Office. Although, working for the Patent Office is a very interesting idea that (since you mentioned it) would be something that I could look into. I would have to see if there is a Patent Office in, near or around either Portland or Salem, Oregon.
I will let everyone know what all happens as everything unfolds (please excuse the pun).

The patent office and a patent attorney are almost two different worlds. One tries to get an inventor a patent and the other denies it (at least usually on the first try). Once you get your paralegal you might also try to do some work in the county clerk's office or the like as well. Might be a little closer to home. The USPTO (short for United States Patent Office) otherwise known as the "nuthouse" is located in Alexandra, VA. There are patent depositories located around the country and you never know what they need. These places actually hire librarians for some of their work. As of late though most places are trying to consolidate and put everything on-line. The USPTO is like that as well. Still take a look you never know..

THank you for the information. I will look into it. I still have two more terms before I do my externship. So, I still have plenty of time to do some research.
Just notice there is two part 4, and they are mirror image of each other, but one is all missed up. I will have to create a mirror image of the good one and print it in order to finish building the klingon D7.
It's kind of funny how this type of thing is discovered during a build then you have one of those WTF moments. Some minor swearing, then how is this problem going to be overcome, then overcoming with (hopefully) a better solution. Then rinse wash repeat until "perfection" is achieved.

It is a good thing I learned a few programs since I started building paper models. Otherwise I would probably just cut the left side and line it up, and glue thin paper to the back (crossing fingers that it worked). I don't know if rawen is a member here, but I PM him some where else. Waiting for a reply.
At first when I saw this error it angered me that something like that was published. After diverting my attention and thinking about it, I remembered how I often will change a file, save it, load it and check it, turn off the program, start the program and check it again and all looks good. Then I open the file later and the stupid thing is completely wrong, sometimes bearing no resemblance to the original or the corrected file, just some fantasy the software dreamed up. Gotta love software that won't do what you tell it to do or changes things on it's own. Makes one appreciate hand-drawn models a little more. I always have to remind myself we live in a fallen world.
You guys have seen a bit of the stuff that I am doing..right? Well trust me, you would not believe how many times I have worked on a file saved under a new file update..got interrupted, closed it reloaded the old one got interrupted and mistakenly later on saved it unchanged or some-such under the updated file name..or any other manner of stupid, I wish I hadn't deleted that file last week, moments!

Make sure to cut out the whole in part 1, so part 9 can be pushed through to the inside back of part 1. Glue part 11 far enough up on part 9 to match the line of part 11 to the outside of part 1. Sorry thought I took pictures of that part of the build,, but I can't find them. This is as far as I got on the build. Hope to have time soon to finish.
