Raising a Tschmel

or, does the word "tschink" mean anything polite in Russian? :)

We will set the ugly duckling chassis aside for awhile, and begin to work on the "bolt-in" launcher assembly for the Tschmel (Bumblebee) ATGMS.

This, we've discovered, is going to be a little model in itself !

Because of the reduced scale, the plan is to approximate the mechanical minutiae with what my model RR friends call "creative gizmology". Nonetheless, reference material is important:

Meanwhile, we anticipate futire problems:

Like "that little rack out back" (see above), and the mechanism for the folding canvas top, which we intend to fabricate out of wire and tissue paper.

Stay tuned for more fishy business from your friendly local Tractor Plant!

Hope to see more

Hi Fishcarver. Your model looks good! I hope to see the final build soon. Its good to see rare vehicles getting attention instead of the usual subjects (tigers, panthers, etc.) and a good way to learn about their history and development.

Moving right along here:

The "canvas" top for the rear of the vehicle has been fabricated. This was a challenge,to put it mildly. The covering is made of tissue paper, liberally treated with Tuffilm, over a supporting structure made of floral wire built up much like the prototype. I'll incorporate some pix of the build-up of this later on!
