Some New Scenery On The MTC

I've been trying a new tecnique for ballast on the MTC layout...
I've been mixing wood ash with sifted dirt...

I've also been working on some of the rockwork, & adding trees & foliage...(the toothpicks in the foregroung are where more foliage will be attached)

No trick really...it's just something I experimented with...I'm not sure about the exact ratio...maybe 50/50...?
The weired thing is that the ash completely disappears when you wet everything down to bond it, & then gradually re-appears about 24 hours later when everything is dry...
I was trying to go for the look of track that has "gone to sod", but still had some traces of old cinder ballast left...

Top notch work!! Love that little steam pot...! Is the trestle scratchbuilt? If so, some tips would be appreciated. I'll be needing one for the next phase of my LO.
