Seen any good structures to Model anywhere

Here is a neat building in Reno Nevada. It really has some character and is close to the railroad tracks.

Another old building within sight of the tracks. I stumbled across this old garage/barn in Sparks Nevada.

Well, this thread is taking off! And wouldn't you know, I have some more cool buildings from small-town Ontario.
This store still has its original sign. Cool!

Here are two oldies:

An old store in Selma AL, 1935. Note the chimney in the background - all that's left of a burnt down home... :(

...and what about that garage? The cars at that time must have used up those tyres like mad!

It stood in San Marcos TX, 1940.

Interurben,

I cut out the portion with the advertisements from the original scan (1600x1200 Pixel, >300 kB) and fiddled around some more with brightness & contrast.

Now it's clear: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey are in town again! :D :D :D

Here's another one. This is the Post Office of Pie Town NM, in 1940.

Unfortunately only the house front is visible, but there's quite something going on. Such a lot of baggage on one single automobile! WOW! The whole scene just cries for being modeled somewhere on a layout.

Sorry, I have bo further information about the scene, but perhaps somebody can help: What make of car was this? (A Packard perhaps?) Was it used as a makeshift post bus? Or as a sort of a Taxi? (Note the lettering on the rear door) Are there models of such cars available?

Ron

BTW: I could have posted the pic also on the gas station thread elsewhere, but I thought the Post Office was the important thing here. ;)

Chris,
I got these pictures from an American book which features lots of photographs out of the 30's and 40's. It belongs to my daughter and I don't know neither the name of the (famous) photographer nor the title of the book.
Unfortunately my daughter is moving at the moment and she says that she packed away all her books in boxes. When she's through with moving she will tell me the name of author/photographer and book title - and of course I'll post it ASAP. But I fear you have to wait until September for that. :(
