Salut à tous!
As whishes Steve aka 'Mysteroid' , I begin a post concerning a gunship which I built some years ago.
Her name : "OLRY". I think that it is the name of a french admiral.
The ship has been built in the end of the '90s' (I mean 1890!!) to protect the french (and occidental) people living - generaly near missions - along the chinese Yang-Tse-Kiang river, and fighted against chinese bandits or other 'Boxers' during the war of same name.
It was laid up in 1910, if I well remember (to be verified!).
The weapons were six 37mm guns, may be some revolving guns (the documents I read did not precise the number of them, so I did not make six of this sort, but only four, and two with one barrel).
The length is 37m and 6m for the width , and when I began I could only estimate the height, measuring by comparision with a crew!
Draught : 1,35m
Maximum speed was 11 knots, and the crew had 24 men.
I was lucky, and did not mistake : a further reading confirmed that I saw the true dimensions (with an hawkeye!).
Than I began to draw, cut and glue...
To be continued...
Thanh Thuy.
