I think Atlas makes one, I don't have it but would expect it to run very well. As I recall, the hand grabs on the corners aren't correct. I may be thinking of the RS3.
Thanks Gary.
There is an artical on the RS 1 in the April issue of RailRoad Moldel Craftsman.
I rather like the look of the old girl .
Got to get me one I think.
Chris, I checked the Atlas site myself, they make both the RS1 and the RS3. BTW, Kato makes the RS2. The 2 and 3 look very similar, the 1 is a bit different.
OK Chris, if you still want an RS-1 after all that unwarranted bantering, here it is, atlas makes an RS-1, 2, 3 and 11. This is a trainworld ad, but the number is standard walthers number if you want to order it elsewhere.
and if you decide to go with an S-1, the magazine ad does not show the good price, but the website shows: 23719 PROTO 2000 ALCO S-1 STARTING @ 26.99EA. which is the price I got.
Chris, The 6 wheeled truck version of the RS units were RSD's. Not sure if RSD4 or 5. Also don't know if any of the better mfgs made this loco. I think AHM did. Do you know the make of this one?
what you have there is an Atlas Model Railroad's model of an Alco RSD-5. It was built for them by Kato, (if my memory is correct). What is an RSD-5 you say, it was the six axle version of the RS-3.
