Shunichi Makino has returned to building again!!!

After the loss of his wife he has decided to revise his old A-Wing paper model. This model has been the goto model if you wanted to build that plane. However, since I always saw this model as near perfect (the addition of a cockpit interior would have made it definitive), he mentions some inaccuracies and imperfections like a too big diameter of the engine rings and a too clean exterior. These are the first things he is tackling. He thinks about revising the general assembly because a test build proved a tad difficult. We'll see where the journey goes! :)

AA cockpit would make this a most awesome model. It kind of is anyways, but he would be raising the bar again!! ;)

I friended him on FB. He is doing better. He likes to post pictures of the meals that he makes. They look GREAT! I am glad to see that he is revisiting some of his old models again. I am curious to see if he will will release something new.

Indeed! As I said, I find the old model perfect as is. However, I counted on him revisiting it some day. I'm looking forward to seeing what more he intends to do. I'd love to see is a major revamp of the Sandcrawler, especially the back side. That portion is almost completely flat and should be filled up with tons of greeblies, tubes and plates. :)

His A-Wing was probably the first one I was happy with regarding my build quality & looking like the movie version. I still have it, since 2010! (survived 2 renovations!)

Does need a cockpit to be truly in a class of it's own... ;)

Also looking forward to the re-vamp, if it's anything like how he redid his Falcon....:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Cockpits, even simply ones, are "da bomb"!! :)

He is one of the good people. The world needs all the good people it can get. ;)

That sounds great! I'm looking forward to seeing where the journey goes - that means, if he descides to add an interior himself. If not, your offer would greatly enhance the kit. So far it does indeed look better than the original! :)

I think Shunichi has read our comments, because ...

... he is considering a cockpit interior!

At this stage this is only a test and he is not sure if it will be successful (he does not want to make the model over-complicated). Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed! :)

Rectangular Boxes with greebles and textures.. hard part is getting things to fit without messing up the nice smooth transition of the model from engines to nose... but even in paper he has done exactly what I had to do to get one in the model.. The pix shows the whole section of model I cut out just to get the lines for the cockpit insert..even though it is basic boxes and super low rez.. that curve is really "Importante" ! Looks like he just about got it beat!
