rescaling jsc models

hey guys i wanted to try to build a few of my jsc models in 1/1200 1/1250 scale
they are the ward, ballard, and a re coloring of the karpaty as a fleet oiler.so here is the question,how much of a reduction in scale. i noticed that many new cruise ships are about 11'' long but who has 250$ for that. i did a rescale of my SS Statendam but she came in at 13 " so back to office max:P
 
the ward and ballard come out to roughly 3 1/4 inch each. so first i will try at 50% size making them about 5" a piece and then try a slight reduction there after. if some one can build a karton flota container ship at 1/600 , an old 4 pipe destroyer should be ok to build , since they had almost clean decks
