I need some info if someone has it, or a link to it, I'd appreciate some help. I need to know the prototypical rail dimensions in the US. Rail hight and width. If you have it for different applications such as mainline, siding, yard, branch lines and so forth that would be a blessing. I found something on tie dimensions, but not spacing, so that would help too, but it's not as important as rail dimensions.

I've spent quite a bit if time searching the Internet and have come up dry each time, except I did find one site that had standard rail lengths, which I'm not that interested in, just hight and width. I've been using Google, maybe I should try a different search engine.:confused:

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
 
Thank you Charlie, I think that's about all I need for now. I'm writing an article on different rails, and I wanted to include something on rail hight. I don't want to get too technical or involved in statistics, but this will be enough for me to get going on it. I haven't a clue as to why Google didn't turn me on to these sites, so I appreciate the help.

I'm not sure how much of this information I can get in my article, but I want what I do put in to be accurate. The article will be in the December edition, therefore I will post it in my blog in January.

BTW, I measured my N scale tie spacing, it converts to around 28 inches, not at all prototypical, not surprising thought since the rails aren't either.:rolleyes:
