Power Surge?

There is one spot on my layout where my train speeds up.


It doesn't matter what engine i use, they all do it.

would this be a track problem or a wiring problem?

Is this spot the same spot where your power pack's wires are connected to the track? If so, then it is because track has some electrical resistance, and the farther your trains are from the power feed, the more resistance the electrons have to deal with before they get to your engine's motor.

The solution is to add more power feeds--personally I prefer to have a couple every six feet (my layout is built in six-foot sections and normally has three power leads per section)
