I am creating this thread about the PRR I1sa Decapod up in New York. Do you think the group up there should let the I1sa go to the Railroad Museum in Lancaster County or Not? I think that they should since it is part of the History of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Depends on which group has the resourses to maintain this beautiful peice of history. Where can I find more info on this locomotive?

WOW! She is a beauty. Those guys are doing a great job. I think that it should be restored to operating condition seeing that it is in as good a shape as it is mechanicly. That's just my opinion though.

Ray i am not sure if the Railroad Museum would do that. I know for a fact that all of the Pennsy Locomotives that are stored at the museum were overhalled. I would like to see it operate as well. She is a beautiful engine. I will agree with you on that.

That would be awesome if they did the I1sa next in line. That K-4 was to be complete by the Altoona Pennsylvania Railfest 2003 but they are now saying it will not be done till next year. I would like to see the I1sa running. It would be back to good days for the elderly people. I know a couple of people who worked on the Pennsy. I found the website for the I1sa by accident. I was looking for model railroad I1sa's and found that link. If enough money was funded for restoring of the engine. I know that a couple of funds was passed for the K-4.

There is a LOT of rust on this creature. And she is missing the rod from the piston to the main rod.

I'm gonna get back up there with my newer digital camera sometime, but for now I'll just apologize that the pics aren't as good as I would have liked.
While I'd love to see this thing run again, I'm not sure it is financially feasable in today's market. I doubt there would be much public support for such a project, and railfans and museums can only offer so much money before running out.

I agree with you,BUT, they need to extend the train shed and get more of the engines and cars under cover. There is no point in throwing good money after bad. I would like to see one of the MP54s that are in NJ transit yard moved there. those are the passenger cars (P54) with reinforced frames that were converted to electrical operation.
