CNWman, the IRM is just to far from work to commute to daily, but if i won the lottery, your idea would be GREAT!:thumb:

ON MY SIDE OF THE TRACKS...
Went to dads today and we worked on his layout:thumb: . there was two sections, the approach into the city, and leaving the city, that were really giving us problems, so we tore up about 15' of track and re-done those 2 areas. we completed the mainline & passing track, we just have to put the 2 spurs back in and a longer caboose track:winki::mrgreen: .
I was TOTALLY PLEASED with how the mainline & passing track turned out:thumb: , my pickiest engine, my Intermountain AC12 Cab Forward now runs perfectly through the whole layouts mainline! My Gas Turbine and Y3 were having problems before we fixed those areas too:frowns: , BUT NOW the Gas turbine runs FLAWLESSLY through it, and i am sure my Y3 will too:winki: , I'm still working on the Y3 so i wasn't able to check how it handles the new track work, but i am sure it will do fine:winki::mrgreen: .
My Athearn Big Boy & 2 Challengers ALWAYS ran good on dads layout, even through the two areas that my other BIG engines had problems with, i cant brag enough on how FANTASTIC these engines are, SLAP AWESOME detail on them too:winki: . if ANYONE was wanting to get reliable steam, MY ADVICE(and i DID say "MY ADVICE"), you just CANT beat the NEW Athearn steamers, they are so smooth running, sound great, detailed great, and NOT PICKY on track work:thumb: . (DISCLAIMER: I am basing this on HO scale with minimum 22r curves:winki: )
We were short 3 pieces of flex track, so we headed off to the hobby shop in Janesville, stopped by the WSOR round house & yard and grabbed a few NEW shots:mrgreen: , see pics below.
Like i mentioned, it ended up we have the switches in place, just need to connect them to the existing industry tracks, i figure about an hour or two worth of work and all the track work will be done:thumb: . after i re-do the scenery in those two areas I'll post some pics:winki: .
Till next time...STAY ON TRACK!:thumb:
