ok. new plan for a train room. im going to get a portable shed (the kind on skids). at least a 10 x 12. going to try for a maybe a 12 x 15 tho. first im going to put tile down on the floor. then i will insulate the walls and ceiling. then i will get some cheap (but looks good ) paneling on the walls. then i will put up a 24" shelf all around the walls, with a lift up or out part in front of the doorway. the shelf will be kinda high but not too high. this will be where i put my O scale layout. and up at the top i will have another shelf just wide enough to run 1 o scale train up there, and lots of display shelves to display my o scale collection. now under the 24" o scale shelf will be my N scale modular layout. the modulars are 24" wide as well. there will be 2 or 3 feet between the N and O layouts.. i will have a 13" tv/dvd on the wall in one corner, a radio, and some way to heat it in the winter. the N scale layout will be made so i can take them out easy to go to train shows if i want.
if i do this with this kind of building, if and when i move i can just call in a rollback truck and take my train room with me.
what do you all think?
