Newly acquired RS13.

My friend Hans has customised a few engines over the years, he is downsizing now because of his age.
He does a nice job, so I thought this RS13 would be a good unit for the new L/O.

What do ya think of this baby.

Looks good. I've never heard of that model. When were those built? How do they relate to rd4/5 and rs11.

According to the March 2004 Model Railroader,it,s probly a RSC 3 or RSD4. The C had A1A trucks meaning the middle axel was an ideler, And the D truck all axels were powered. Darn nice lookin model

I don't think there is such thing as an RS13. I can't really tell what it is either. It's cab is like an RSD-1, because as far as i know ( which isn't so far) they didn't have the overhang on the roof.

however, the ends are more rounded, and the louvers are placed the right way for it to be either RSC-2 or 3, or maybe an RSD4 or 5. is there any way to tell if the trucks are a-1-a or C-C type trucks?

Those early RS's are the only diesels that would get me to give up the steamers (or at least move my era to transition ).

Unfortunately the CN lines website doesn't have any RSC13 info. The RSC14 was a different animal entirely, being converted from RS18, but I seem to recall somewhere that they got the trucks for them from RSC3s or RSC13s.....Would have to do a lot of digging through my house to find that.

Its probably an RSC-3

the only major thing that bothers me is the Exhaust stack is on the end of the long hood, while on your model its closer to the cab. everything else in this picture is kinda railroad specific.
