I needed a little brake from a valve gear project that was about to make me go blind, when some dead Tiger Lillies caught my eye in the wife's garden,,,"They look like tree trunks!!!" I said as I tore them from the Earth, family looking on as if I should be in a straight jacket.
So I cleaned them up and glued a brass rod in to the soon to be trees. Next I sealed them with lots dull coat and let them dry. Then I carefully stuck some Polly Fiber Net on them and prepped them for the next step, LEAVS.

Trees

Next I sprinkled on some ground foam. First some medium green all over the net. Then some darker green with the tree held upside down. And last some light green on the top surfaces only. This gives the effect of light and shadow(more depth). Lastly another good coat of dull coat.

Trees

Now planted in a good spot they get a nice view of a late night freight headed by a set of F.M.'s.

After working on the roof of a 20 story building I got a good idea of what you mean by a scaling problem. From that height I got a good sense of what an HO tree should look like. I'll give them a touch up tomorrow. Thanks Triplex.
