Post-Build Observations on the 2P27 ATGM Vehicle
This was my first venture into finescale for a very long time. It was also my first card armo(u)r build, and was the culmination of a considerable period of study/observation into paper/card as a modeling material: mostly gained here, and on the European forums with thanks to all of you!
My objective with this project was to try to replicate, as closely as possible, the level of detail of a decent 1:35 scale plastic kit of this vehicle, using available reference. I personally am happy with the results: the "rivet counters" among you may take exceptions, but so do I: this model has taught me MUCH!
To be quite frank, I was somewhat skeptical going in. But, at the end of the process, I am now firmly converted to card modeling and look forward to doing more as my time permits.
As a semi-professional wildlife wood carver and instructor, I make extensive use of mixed media in the presentation of my finished pieces. Card and paper have been longstanding staples. This little AFV project has taught me a great deal about their further potential, and given me great respect for them as well.
One could easily write a small illustrated book about basic card armo(u)r modelling using this model as a guide. Thank you to the designer of this fine little kit!
Above all, thanks to those who have encouraged me along the way!
