I just got this for $18.50.

What engine do I use for this now? :oops: :oops:
 
It's the wrong railroad to go with the cars but it's also your model railroad. Do what you want.
 
I know nothing about Amtrak,we haven't had their service here for years,but that's one cool looking engine and the cars are pretty cool also.
 
I live in this area, and The ONLY power I've ever seen with the brand-new Bombardier cars, is indeed an F40 or MP36. I would highly suggest the KATO F40, undecorated, as a start, and that "C-dot" scheme is very easy to apply with paint.

The F59PHI's would NOT be a realistic stand-in, and the F40 would be more fun to model anyways. :)

EDIT: there is no current model of an MP36 locomotive availble commercially, unfortunately. :(

I dont like the way the F40 looks. I want ultra modern and I think that is not it. :)
I tried to find a dot train and no luck. :(
 
Thanks for the pic. It really seals the deal for me on not going with that type of engine. I just dont like the look. :)
 
You said before you didn't like an F40. The GO unit pictured is an F59PH. You may not like it also, but be aware they are two different engines.
 
I didnt notice that. Thanks! I want something more modern. I know its not prototypical, but heck neither am I. LOL

There are two different "F59" models. The GO unit is an F59PH that's based on the F40 carbody you don't like. The Amtrak California unit is an F59PHI that's an entirely new design. Be sure to differentiate in your posts when referring to one of these models.
