After years of doing models based on real-life subjects, the closest I've ever gone to doing my own idea have been from depicting subjects out of novels. But finally, I've decided to say bollocks to all that and have decided to make a completely original model.
So I present to you all a WWII German Power Suit...mecha....thing. Instead of going for the more traditional boxy-mech style, I've based my design more on atmospheric diving suits...and the trashcans found on Long Island Railroad platforms. The suit is equipped with 2 mounted MG42 on the left arm and one FlaK 38 on the right. Essentially the suit is a dieselpunk version of Heinlein's power armor, with jump rockets on the back as well as infra-red "snoopers".
I figured that such hardware would be given to elite special forces - preferably those on scouting/breakthrough missions, and so I've drawn the suit as belonging to a Hauptsturmfuhrer with the ever-generic surname of "Ritter" from the infamous 502 Jaeger Battalion.
Anyway, I've been working on the finalized design for the past two days now, and all I have left to make are the power-pack for the thing and the jump jets. Have some screenshots:
