My retirement presents

I just got retired last week and I received very nice presents from my co-workers and from ... me.
My friendly colleagues offered me a very nice ( and heavy ) book about the railroad history. The pictures are great, they are mostly from the SNCF ( French government owned railroad ).

My own present runs nicely and the whistle sounds great :smile:

Don is right: when I retired, I was surprised to find how little "free" time I had. I don't know how I ever managed to get anything done on the layout when I was still working!! ;)

Bon Chance! Having co-workers and friends like that who take the time to find you something extra special must be in response to how well you treated them and their respect for you.

A big thank you to all the nice members of The Gauge forum who took some of their time to wish me a happy retirement.
Now I'll have more time for me and for caring about my family and friends.

I'm refreshing my memory about Mollier Diagram so I can get my stationary steam engineer license .

I now have confirmation from DoctorWayne himself that he is retired too. When I saw pictures of Wayne's layout, my 1st reaction was: " Only a retired guy has enough spare time to build such a detailed layout" :)

As a matter of fact, my friendly co-workers offered me a second great book, it's about the history of the various breweries in the province of Québec. It's interesting to know that the great Canadian brewer John Molson found a well known brewery and ... The Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad that became later the Grand Trunk Railway.

I like when beer and railroad combine.

You'd think so, but the majority of the layout was built before I retired: working shifts does have benefits! :wink: I did have a big flurry of activity when I first retired, but other commitments have kept recent progress at a standstill. I've got plenty of ideas, but not much available time to execute them. :-D

Thanks for the good retirement wishes Renovo PPR, doctorwayne, fsm1000.

I won't stay inside modelling too much. I'll spend some time bicycling ... around the Taschereau yard lol.

I had a stationary steam engine 55 years ago, It was an inheritance from ... my uncle so I guess it was built around 1930. That's why I purchased a new one.
Childhood memories: priceless.

I'll take a new job working shifts :)
 
Congrats on the retirement! I was out of town and away from the internet last week, and this week I've been doing a bunch of work on my Firebird, so I haven't been online much. I retired a year ago and thought of all of the things I would get done with my spare time! So far I haven't a clue when I had time to work and I still have what seems to be an endless list of spare time projects with no spare time to do them!
