For no real reason here is pic of some of my favorite stuff. I don't have a layout right now, so temporarily all I can do is work on my models and admire them.

Starting from the back left we have Potomac Line #800, a Life-Like Proto 2000 Heritage 0-8-0, my first and currently only complete and painted B&P engine. Coupled to 800 we have Potomac Line #1, a Brass N5 cabin of unknown manufacture, and also currently the only completed B&P cabin. UP 96 is a Rivarossi 0-4-0, eventually to become fodder for a remotor and conversion for the B&P. #98 is an original cast metal Varney Dockside, awaiting a can motor and superdetailing for the B&P. PRR 7641 is a LL Proto 2000 0-6-0, coupled to a detailed Bowser pool service PRR N5B cabin. Front row we have a Bowser A-5 in the building stages and a Spectrum Ma & Pa Ten Wheeler.

The B&P aka Potomac Line is my free-lanced railroad running from Philadelphia to Washington D.C./Alexandria Va.

If anybody has a low coal bunker for the Proto 0-6-0 like PRR 7641 above has let me know, I am looking for one and Walthers wants like $15.00 plus shipping. I might just end up paying that, but I don't wanna.

Nice collection Dave! Say, I think a number of steam modelers might be wondering how you created the white B&P lettering on the black tender. Its been an occasional topic of threads this last year.

Thanks Ralph. The B&P lettering came from a dry transfer set. Unfortunately you can only letter a couple of pieces of stock that way, and you end up with a bunch of letters you don't need.

I am about to place an order with Rail Graphics to make me a bunch of sets of lettering in White, Yellow, and Black. That should cover just about any lettering situation I run into.

Thanks Dave! I wondered if they might be dry transfers. They look great! Thanks for telling folks about Rail Graphics. Let us know how they work out.

Nice looking roster, Dave. :thumb: You sorta shot yourself in the foot with your choice of roadname, though, ;):-D if you wanted to get better mileage out of a sheet of dry transfers. Depending on the font, many useable letters can be made from those less often used. "F" from "E", "E" from "F" and "L", "A" from "V" and part of a "T", "P" from "R", "R" from "P" or "B" and part of a "K" or "Y", and my favourite (after lettering about 50 passenger cars, using alphabet sets, ELORA GORGE & EASTERN) "G" from "O", "Q", "C", and even "D", with a few bits from the lower-case letters. Even the ampersand can be cobbled together from the proper pieces of letters. Just flip the sheet over and use a new X-Acto blade to gently trim away the parts of letters that aren't needed. Lining up the various parts is the hard part, and you have to make sure to burnish each bit as it's applied, so that the next application doesn't lift the previous one.

Its stil a pain to position HO scale letters though...
 
Thanks for the tips Doctor. I lettered that hippo back in 8/00 (hence the #800) and don't even know where the rest of the leftover lettering is. I decided it will be a worthy investment to buy the Rail Graphics decals. They are resonably priced and one order should last me a good long while.

Got an MDC consolidation today. Looks great next to the Spectrum 4-6-0.:thumb:

Thanks Deano. The B&O wagon top caboose is by Pacific Mountain Scale Shops. Their website was down today, but Pro Custom Hobbies POSI-Store Web Site is where I bought them from. This shop has an astounding amount of really nice stuff. I drove up there and was very impressed, but he does plenty of business over the net or phone.

Ahh, yes indeed it would. Few paint schemes of any road can match the beauty of the Chessie System scheme, but I have just been dying to do this paint scheme...

Some nice stuff you have there bro! Definately unique.

I wonder if the green car you got from the UK is a mail delivery car of some sorts? Really reaching here, however when I saw the word "Post" atop the doors on the far left, that's pretty much what jumped into my head.

I am going to do some C&O research and see if I can find a less repulsive paint scheme to put this BL2 in. C&O did have BL2s... didn't they?? I hope so...

The final result of my I-12 Wagon Top caboose build. I highly reccomend the Pacific Mountain Scale Shops kit.
