Now where is that helmet again..Im ready to attempt it again.... :D
 
I've loved the design of this gun ever since I first saw it. Have attempted to build one out of wood but have never gone into as much detail as I've seen here.:thumb:

I often wonder where people get such awesome details from. The TOS blaster has such an odd design , it's difficult to dicern details from photos and screen-grabs.
I've searched the web for years and have never found anywhere near the details I'd need to attempt even a rudimentary replica.

Does a list of parts used to fabricate the original blaster master exist?

I don't know for sure but I think there are some crazy people out there who have spotted all parts. I for myself have found out that one of the greeblies on the blaster was used for the Base Star and the Galactica gun turret array. I "guesstimated" its size from pictures and screenshots. Then, just for fun, I calculated the approximate size of the base star model. A few months later I found out that my calculations were 98,7 % correct, and this was more than I could anticipate. Another part which is very easy to verify is the small 1:48 (or 1:96 ?) radar / antenna array from an Apollo capsule kit. It sits on top of the blaster. I hope that I'll be able to release the blaster soon. Stay tuned!
 
On the upper back sides of the main body of the guy are some rectangular parts from a model of a German anti-aircraft gun. I want to say that it's a Tamiya model, and I think it's a German 88mm 36 37. I've got a model around somewhere... I think some of the other bits on the blaster are also from the same model. The bits I'm thinking of are supposed to be racks of ammo, or open boxes of ammo or something...

Well, you're better off than me, I only know one language! :yep: Are you wondering if I have some of the model parts that were used to make the original prop? If so, yes, I have some of the kits that were used for the original prop, but probably not all. The barrel end was an acrylic faucet knob that was turned down a little bit on a lathe to make it more cylindrical, instead of flared out like the faucet knob is. They might still make that knob, I'm not sure. I think it also comes in a couple different sizes, or at least, there's a too small one that looks similar.

I've done some looking to see if I could find a list somewhere of all the models that were used, but I haven't found it yet. It seems that it must be posted somewhere, tho. I'll check with a friend who's more up on classic BSG props than I am.

Don't worry! Just picked up the Landram again. I'm tidying up my desk and take one model at a time; once the Ram is ready, I'll turn to the blaster again! And thank you for your patience.:wave::thumb::wave:

Wouldn't it be COOL to make over a motorcycle into an electric and add a Turbo Bike fiberglass shell to it. With a Colonial Warrior Helmet on people would look at you on the road just like they did in the TV show. WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT??????

I remember reading somewhere that they used a dirt bike as the basis, but don't remember.` That tall skinny front wheel looks like a 1980's dirt bike rim. Tiny drum brake, not very advanced for a space faring people, maybe it was some kind of magnetic breaking made to look like a drum brake, yeah, that's it!! Somehow, some of the early Suzuki bikes of the 1980's remind me of this. Is it just me?

I loved the original BSG, but, I never really got into Galactica 1980 as a kid. My mum and I always thought that the two guys on the turbo bikes, reminded us both of bad rip-off of "CHiPs" (for those of you who do not know or remember CHiPs was a popular TV series back in the 70's and 80's).
 
Those Suzuki's ruled though. I still have my '83 GS750 es. Bought it knew. Galactica 1980 really was bad, really bad. I think "Chips" was the only thing worse!!
 
I was never found of "CHIPS" either, although, my mum had the "HOTS" for Eric "EGO" Estrada.
Although, there were two episodes that I liked. One featured the Space Shuttle launch, and the second one featured Elvirä "Mistress of the Dark".

A quick note to justify my decision: These Turbocycles were actually designed for an unproduced episode of the classic BSG that would likely have been filmed if the show had got a second season ("Showdown"). So they are sort of canon to the classic BSG universe.
