I,m thinking of redesigning the hatch lip where i can remove it .I,m thinking also velcro to hold it together.The aft section too, with the heat shield as part of the assemble .Also the whole body in 18 inch sections. With slip joints in the spurs and the out side skin holding the whole thing together with screws at the joints.That way it can be broken down so I can get it out of the room I,m building it in.I,m looking at a hardener for the paper too.But it can only be shipped in warm weather.The hardener will turn the paper rock hard and can be dyed to colors like silver ,gray and black.Also I,m thinking of a stand in pvc pipe to hold the whole thing when done.
A good paper hardener I have found is super glue, but you'd need a 55 gallon drum. I can't wait to see the pics of the main. Speaking of getting it out of the room, who was the auto maker that built the first car and had to knock out the wall of his garage to get the car out....I think it was Ford.
Plus the roughly 150 little vertical ones on the 'left' side of each shingle....

That is true Scott.I started to build some of the shingles because the plan is to the main body in three part.The first part will be the fore body and after body to the end of the first set of shingles.Slip joint and velcro and screws will hold the 3 sections together when displayed.Some of the equipment I will be scratch building for this section are. Launch oxygen valve-Suit pressure regular-co2 and odor absorber-suit compressor-emerency o2 rate valve-Suit circuit shutoff valve-Oxygen pressure reducer-Cabin pressure control valve-Water separator-Attitude gyro-Rate gyro-Amplifier calibrator[I have a lot on this one to really detail it]Landing system components-Batteries-Telemetry transmitter and power supply-Support couch-Water supply-Flight control handle-Oxygen supply-Camera correlation clock-survival kit-Inverter cooling duct-Capsule water tank.And as I find more in this area I try to include it.I also read up on the part and give a small description of it,s purpose.
Yes a lot of the main structure is but in the end the details are the fun part.It takes about 8 hours to do one.It,s cut out 3 times one pattren sheet 2 for the front and back and the insert.So I,m cutting out 4000 dimples.Then theres the sanding and filler and paint.But I think it will be worth it in the end.
The girlfriend is fine with it.In fact we are getting a 2 bedroom apt together this spring.So we have a room to do paper models together.
Thats cool...a girl that enjoys the same hobbies. Better hang on to her. :thumb: My wife has 0 intrest in what I'm doing. But we've been married 26 yrs this May so.
Hey bud...I haven't seen any new photos in a while, must be busy busy making aaaalllllll those dimples. I'm sure you've probably thought of this but how about building a hundred or so, go work on some thing else for a while then come back to them, kinda switching on and off, should break up the monotony a bit.

I have been doing research.Looking at different paper and paints to get the titanium and allumium right.I have a titanium watch and when I ask the sales people I want the paper to look like this.They give me a strange look.Part of paper modeling I guess .LOL
will get back to the full size one after i move.That way I won,t have to use the moving truck one more trip to move it.Started a 1/4 scale to work out some things on the scratch builds for the full one.wanted to see how close the colors where to the real one.So I went black and white on the photo.View attachment 96773
